Somaliland’s Bihi Jets To UAE As Farmaajo Heads To Qatar Amid Berbera Port Row
Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi on Tuesday left for Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates for an official tour following an invitation by the Gulf state amid a brewing row over the recently signed Berbera port deal.
President Bihi is accompanied by the Opposition leader Feisal Ali Warabe, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Saad Ali Shire, Planning Minister, Sports Minister, Constitution Minister and Water Minister.
Radio Dalsan has accessed a video showing the delegation aboard a luxurious private jet mid-air to Abu Dhabi.
The trip comes a day after Somalia Federal government legislated to nullify last months the Tripartite Berbera Port deal that was signed between Somaliland, Ethiopia and UAE port operator DP World.
Farmaajo is set to travel to Doha Qatar in what regional affairs expert see as a retaliation tour following a sustained campaign against Somalia by UAE.
Doha and Abu Dhabi who failed out during the 2017 Gulf crisis have been eyeing to expand their sphere of influence in Somalia.
