UCID Chairman Accuses Somaliland President of Underhanded Tactics
Hargeisa (PP News Desk) — The Chairman of Somaliland opposition party UCID Mr Faisal Ali Warabe has accused Somaliland President l Muse Bihi Abdi of resorting to divisive tactics to secure nomination of the Parliamentary Speaker for his party.
“It is deplorable that the government is using the taxpayer’s money to divide the opposition party and strike a deal separately with UCID MPs to ensure that the new speaker comes from the ruling party” said Faisal.
UCID Chairman alleged that President Bihi had told the International Community that “the two leaders of the opposition parties are related and had formed an alliance against his government. What is more, President Bihi persuaded UCID MPs who are related to him by subclan to vote for his preferred candidate for parliamentary speakership ” added Faisal.
UCID and Waddani, two opposition parties, have collectively won the largest number of parliamentary seats and local government councillors during concurrent parliamentary and local government elections held one month ago.
